A Sad Ant Update

Sorry for the lack of blog entries lately. My brother and his family were here visiting for a week. I have been trying to get back into the swing of things and getting ready to start school again with the boys so writing time has been scarce.

I thought it would be a good time to give an update on my two ant farms. Sadly, the new blue one was thrown away today. While there was the initial excitement of a tunnel built immediately upon habitation, something went terribly wrong in that farm. Mold began taking over the entire thing. I have no idea what happened as there is nothing like it in the green farm. Maybe the ants themselves brought some bacteria with them? Whatever the reason, the ants all began dying rather quickly. A very disappointing turn of events.

Surprisingly, the green ant farm still has nine ants alive and well (there have been no new deaths for many weeks). There is still no tunneling (we've given up hope on that), but no mold or fungus growing either. I admit that I have pretty much lost interest since the blue farm was such a dud. I will continue to post updates periodically until the ants in the green farm no longer exist.

  1. You don't want to see what the moldy farm looked like and the green one doesn't look any different than the last picture I posted.
