Homeschooling Revisited

Shortly after sending out an update to our friends and family via email about our upcoming move, Chuck and I made the decision to homeschool the boys next year. It is not a decision that was made easily - much thought and soul searching went into the process.

From the time Sullivan was born I began to research the topic. The more I read about homeschooling, the more I began to feel it was the right road for our family to take. I homeschooled Sully for kindergarten and first grade. There were many reasons why we decided to enroll both Sully and Owen in public school two years ago. Sully was struggling with learning to read and write and I hoped the school would be able to offer him some services. I was overwhelmed with having three young children home all of the time - still struggling with a lack of sleep due to Connor's waking at night. It was also a difficult time for me personally as I battled with myself to find a balance between being a mother and a woman.

I realized recently that I am in a much better place now and am ready to accept the challenge of homeschooling our children. We feel it is in their best interest to do so at this time. We are all excited about the adventure that we're about to embark on and can't wait to share it with everyone.
